Biography

Anna was awarded a PhD in Japanese Studies from the University Manchester in 2017. From developing ‘Shut up and write!’ groups both at Manchester and at the University of Leeds, she has experienced the power of reflective discourse in negotiating transitions. Her research interests include using communities of practice theory to find out how teaching and learning occur in classical Japanese martial arts; near peer support; and developing academic writing skills amongst doctoral candidates and early career researchers. Anna heads a small team whose role is to foster a positive researcher environment for PGRs, ECRs and research staff across the University of Huddersfield. Work: @HudResEnv Research: @lucubrat
