Biography

Dr Catherine Mills manages the University of Birmingham's Graduate School and is a member of the UK Council for Graduate Education Executive Committee.  Prior to joining Birmingham in June 2009, Catherine coordinated the University of Cambridge's transferable skills programme for humanities and social science postgraduate researchers (PGRs).  She is responsible for managing the delivery of the UoB's strategy to induct, retain, and develop PGRs.  This includes: overseeing a comprehensive PGR development programme and set of support resources; the development and management of University's PGR quality assurance processes; coordinating/supporting Research Council liaison work (PGR funding and Doctoral Training Partnerships); and the development and management of the Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Research Methods & Skills.
