Biography
David gained his DPhil in Chemistry at the University of Sussex in 1980, subsequently spending 15 years as a Senior Research Scientist in the chemical industry, before moving into the Higher Education sector, first as a business development manager, and then as a training and skills manager working with the aerospace sector. He took on his current role of EngD Centre Manager at the University of Manchester in 2005, where his mix of industrial and academic experience, coupled to an interest in developing people, has been invaluable in helping him to create transferable skills programmes for young doctorate engineers seeking careers in industry. More recently he has widened his interests, developing programmes for STEM researchers across a range of disciplines, from starting PhDs to early career post-docs.
