Biography
Karen provides strategic direction for the Research Excellence Training (RET) provision at the University of York. Working to support the University's Research Strategy, RET co-ordinates and delivers training for doctoral students, early career researchers, doctoral supervisors and Principal Investigators, and professional support staff aligned to research. Responsibilities include:
- Co-ordination of the University's Concordat and 'HR Excellence in Research' process
- Oversight of all training and public engagement activities for researchers
- Co-delivery of the Times Higher Award-winning Research Leaders programme for academic staff and PIs
- Co-ordination of the support and training for Fellowships
- Supporting the implementation of the Research Strategy and York Graduate Research School activity
- Developing partnerships nationally and internationally to further enhance the support available to researchers
Karen has a PhD in Education, has published widely on assessment and is a trained coach and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
