Biography
Dr Karen Jones is Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Management, at the Institute of Education, University of Reading. She is Director of the MA Education, Leadership and Management in conjunction with Henley Business School, Co-convener of the Improving Equity and Inclusion through Education Research Group and a member of the Research Ethics Committee. Karen convenes and teaches modules in educational leadership and management in the EdD and MA Education programmes and she provides PhD, EdD and MA research supervision.
She has multidisciplinary background, spanning 16 years, involving teaching and research with the public, private and third sector in four UK Higher Education institutions. Throughout this time Karen and has developed expertise incorporating a gender dimension in education curricula and research.
Her research and publications interests focus on gender and women's leadership; sexism, unconscious bias, gender stereotypes, as well as the learning of leadership and learning transfer. Karen has been taken part in and led a number of large research and learning development projects. Currently, she is Principal Investigator of a teaching and learning initiative ‘Tackling stereotypes, sexism and unconscious biases in teaching and learning' at the University of Reading.
Karen is a member of British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) and the Gender and Educational Research Interest Group; the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LF), International Leadership Association (ILA) and ILA Woman and Leadership Affinity Group.
