Biography
Kathryn has worked as a researcher developer at Loughborough University since 2007, prior to that she was a postdoctoral researcher at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, and undertook a PhD in Plant Biology at Lancaster University. As a post-doc Kathryn developed her interest in training and development of researchers. She chaired the local post-doc voice committee, driving initiatives to improve development activities for researchers. As Researcher Development Manager at Loughborough University, Kathryn is based in the Graduate School and Research Office, where she contributes to building a vibrant community for research staff and doctoral students. This includes a range of training, events, communications and a long-running mentoring scheme for research staff. She helped to establish and continues to work closely with Loughborough’s Research Staff Association. Kathryn also works on strategic initiatives relating to the postgraduate researchers and research staff. Kathryn led the University’s submission for the HR Excellence in Research Award in 2010 and the successful retention of the award in 2012 and 2015.
