Biography
Dr Katryna Kalawsky (BSc, PhD, FHEA) is Loughborough University’s Doctoral Researcher Development Officer (DR-DO); a joint position between the Doctoral College and Centre of Academic Practice (Human Resources and Organisational l Development). In this full-time role, Katryna contributes to the strategic objectives of Loughborough University by supporting the development of Doctoral Researchers. This encompasses the design, promotion, delivery and evaluation of training and development programmes, through both face-to-face and blended learning.
As a former Doctoral Researcher, Postdoctoral Researcher (x3), Teaching Fellow, Athena SWAN Project Officer, and Research Staff & Student Development Officer, Dr Kalawsky understands first-hand the importance of offering researchers at all stages a wide portfolio of opportunities and transferrable skills to enhance their professional development and employability. Moreover, she has a keen interest in fostering and embedding a research informed evidence-based approach to researcher development.
Dr Kalawsky is a champion of researcher well-being. In this regard, she has presented at several conferences on the matter, and instigated the Doctoral Well-Being and Support Project at Loughborough University. The latter included the creation of a well-being survey that has been shared with several higher education institutions in UK. Dr Kalawsky also created an Institutional Doctoral Researcher Well-Being Action Plan at Loughborough University and is a member of the UK Council for Graduate Education’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Working Group.
