Biography
Nigel leads a team of thirteen, who deliver a broad range of personal, professional and career development opportunities for all PhD students and research staff at King’s, around 4500 people. Nigel is fully committed to helping people achieve their potential. Since completing his PhD about thirteen years ago, Nigel has been involved in numerous projects to help early career researchers become more effective. In his previous role, Nigel managed a large mentoring scheme and career development programme for aspiring clinical academics. Nigel first developed his interest in communications and development through taking part in, and then leading, various public engagement initiatives – highlights included working with community groups on a project which attempted to give underrepresented groups a voice on issues such as climate change and GM foods, and a media fellowship scheme, placing researchers with organisations such as the BBC, Times and Guardian. Nigel has two children, one wife and no pets.
