Dr Sally Wilson, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Employment Studies (IES), is a Neuropsychologist with over 15 years’ experience of applied research in health and wellbeing and leads on this area of activity at IES. She previously worked as a research fellow in the Sheffield Institute for Studies on Ageing, University of Sheffield and the Health and Safety Laboratory. Her work spans occupational health and safety, stress and mental health, as well as chronic illness and disability. Sally has a particular interest in mental health, including interventions to manage workplace stressors as well as measures to help people who have lived experience of mental health conditions to return and re-enter work/learning. She recently completed a review of psychological resilience and its role in coping with challenge. Sally was a member of the Vitae project team researching into the wellbeing and mental health of postgraduate researchers in UK institutions, funded by HEFCE. Sally currently sits on the External Supervisory Board for the University of Manchester’s project on PGR wellbeing and mental health which is funded by Research England. She is also a member of the newly formed Educator Wellbeing Research Steering Group – the remit of this includes mental wellbeing in all types of organisations in the UK education sector, including HE.
