Biography
Dr Sharon Saunders, Research Staff Development Consultant, University of Cambridge. Sharon holds one of the roles offering support, development and training to the University’s 3500+ postdocs and research staff. As well as managing a personal and professional development programme for research staff, Sharon works closely with the newly formed Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, the Careers Service, the PdOC Society and academic departments to ensure that provision for research staff is fit for purpose. Recent projects include: the further development of an Emerging Research Leaders’ Development Programme for postdocs/research staff, the piloting of mentoring initiatives across the University and a masterclass initiative designed in collaboration with postdoctoral researchers. Sharon’s research interests centre on how knowledge about leadership is constructed in order to inform leadership development interventions. Sharon is also a member of Vitae’s Researcher Development Advisory Group and has recently been selected to be a peer reviewer for the UK HR Excellence in Research external review process.
