Biography 

Dr Sylvia Anne Mackie is a lecturer in research communication skills, working in the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Advancement, at Swinburne University of Technology. She runs a developmental program for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) higher degree by research students and early career researchers that integrates training in research communication skills (including language support), research career management and other strategies for research advancement. Sylvia has a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include STEM research communication pedagogies, advanced English language learning and researcher development in STEM disciplines.
