Biography
Tristram Hooley is Professor in Career Education at the University of Derby. His main research interests are career education and guidance, the role of new technologies, and the policies and politics of careers. With Julia Yates (University of East London) he has been exploring issues relating to the role of attractiveness and image in career development. They have developed the concept of "career images" which they argue is a composite of physical appearance, dress and interpersonal skills. He will be talking about career image and its application in the world of researcher development.
Tristram is Head of the International Centre for Guidance Studies, a fellow of the National Institute of Career Education and Counselling, a Winston Churchill fellow and a member of the editorial board of the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling.
