Biography

Jane teaches enterprise in the International Centre for Music Studies, in the School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University. She has supported the work of the Entrepreneurial Development Unit within Newcastle University Careers Service for the last five years, including the development and presentation of enterprise workshops for Postgraduate Researchers. She was a facilitator on the Newcastle University ACTION programme for Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers (2011-2014) and works as a facilitator on the Cambridge University Enterprisers programme. Jane was one of the design and organising team and a lead facilitator on the RENKEI Collaborating across Cultures School for Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers, which was shortlisted for a Times Higher Education award in 2014.
Jane is a doctoral candidate in the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics at Newcastle University researching enterprise and employability. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and the European Enterprise Educators (3EP) Programme, and has an MBA from the Open University. In her teaching and facilitation work, Jane draws on her long experience in business. She was awarded the MBE in 2000 and was the 2006 North East Woman Rural Entrepreneur of the Year.
