Biography
Dr Jo Finch is Professor of Social Work at the University of East London and is the programme leader for the Professional Doctorate in Social Work (DSW). The programme is now in its 4th cohort and runs alongside the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD). Jo is also Professor of Post Graduate Research in the school of Humanities and Social Sciences the University of Suffolk (0.2). Jo is a former children and families social worker and play therapist, and worked in a number of London Boroughs before becoming a lecturer. Jo has published widely in the field of practice learning with a focus on students struggling in placements. Jo is the author of “Working with Struggling Students On Placement: A Practice Guide (2017, Policy Press) and co-author of “SHARE: A New Model of Social Work” (Maclean, Finch and Tedam, 2018, Kirwin-Maclean Associates) . With her co-author David McKendrick, she has published a number of articles and book chapters on PREVENT and social work.
