Jo Baker

Biography

Jo is a Speech and Language Therapist in the third year of her PhD at Newcastle University, funded by NINE DTP. She is passionate about evidence-based practice and ensuring that children with speech, language and communication needs receive effective and timely support. This is evident in her research, which aims to better understand the impacts of a commonly delivered approach called phonological awareness intervention on children’s speech difficulties.
Jo enjoys using creative means, such as her own cartoons to communicate her research. Outside of studying she loves the outdoors and can be found in the sea or up a mountain.
