Biography

Katie graduated from the University of Bath in 2008 with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. After graduating Katie worked in Local Government as the data analyst for accident data in a road safety team. Katie joined the Transportation Research Group at the University of Southampton in 2009 and has worked on EU funded aviation projects including ALICIA and i-VISION. Katie uses her Human Factors expertise to evaluate future cockpit technologies. Katie is also undertaking a part-time PhD looking at the processes of pilot-crew decision making in the cockpit, from the perspective of the Perceptual Cycle Model and Schema Theory. In 2013 Katie participated in Collaborating Across Cultures: The 2013 RENKEI Researcher Development School in Bristol and Kyoto. In 2014 Katie’s PhD research was awarded the Air Pilots Trust Award for research into Aviation Safety.
