Job title

Postgraduate Research Student Development Officer

Biography

Since completing her BSc Honours Degree in Psychology in 2005 at Loughborough University, Katryna’s career path has been predominately research based. However, since 2012 she has been employed by Loughborough University in roles that have centred on research, teaching, and academic and pastoral support within the School of Sport of Exercise and Health Sciences, Graduate School, Research Office, Planning Team (Vice-Chancellor’s Office) and Student Services.

In December 2014, Katryna was appointed Loughborough University’s Postgraduate Research Student Development Officer; a joint position between the Centre of Academic Practice, Graduate School and Loughborough University in London. In this full-time role, Katryna contributes to the strategic objectives of the University by supporting the development of Postgraduate Researchers. This encompasses the design, promotion, delivery and evaluation of training and development programmes, through both face-to-face and blended learning.

As a former Loughborough University Postgraduate Researcher, Research Assistant, Postdoctoral Researcher (x3), Teaching Fellow, Athena SWAN Project Officer, and Research Staff and Student Development Officer, Katryna understands first-hand the importance of offering Postgraduate Researchers at all stages a wide portfolio of opportunities and transferrable skills to enhance their professional development and employability. Moreover, she has a keen interest in fostering and embedding a research informed evidence-based approach to researcher development. Doctoral well-being is another interest of Katryna’s and she instigated the Doctoral Well-Being and Support Project at Loughborough University. This included the creation of a well-being survey that has been utilised by higher education institutions in the East Midlands.
