Biography

Laura Broome is a final year Psychology PhD student in the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University. She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Criminology at Cardiff University. Her current project examines the linguistic profile of online grooming offenders in their attempt to persuade victims into sexual behaviour. Specifically, Laura’s project explores how online groomers develop an emotional bond with victims and whether this processes is deceptive. This had led to collaborations with the NSPCC, Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service and Dyfed Powys Police.
