Biography

Mhairi has worked at De Montfort University for nearly three years where she undertakes her own independent research into the role of a viral oncoprotein in the pathogenesis of cancer, alongside her duties in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision. Mhairi was recently awarded a DMU Teacher Fellowship, and is currently the universal design for learning (UDL) champion for postgraduate research students. Mhairi gained her PhD in viral oncology at the University of Birmingham, where she continued her post-doctoral work. She has a strong interest in the link between creativity and science, and is part of a collaborative research project with an artist colleague looking at 3D printed tumours, and how these might be used to help cancer patients come to terms with their diagnosis.
