Biography
Nick is a biochemist by training and holds an undergraduate degree from Imperial College and a PhD from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This was followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Colorado arriving at University of East Anglia as a postdoctoral fellow in November 1990. Here he held personal funding from the Wellcome Trust for nine years before being appointed to the Faculty 2001. Since then he has held a number of School and Faculty leadership roles including a period as Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Science (2006-2009). He has recently served as a trustee and treasurer of the Biochemical Society and is currently UEA's Academic Director of Postgraduate Research Degree Programmes with responsibility for ca 1400 research students which reflects his long-standing interest in doctoral education and employability.
