Biography

Parmjit is Head of Researcher Development at the University of Nottingham. He was appointed to the role in 2013, having joined the University in 2006 as Researcher Training and Development Manager with specific responsibility for the Faculty of Engineering. He and his team are responsible for managing the centrally delivered training programme and the Faculty specific training programmes for postgraduate students and research staff. In addition to these programmes, Parmjit also manages the University of Nottingham Research Leaders Programme (NRLP) for senior academic colleagues.

Parmjit has an extensive engineering management background, stretching over two decades, in research, manufacturing and operations management. Before joining the University Of Nottingham, Parmjit taught Operations Management within organisations such as Rolls-Royce, followed by a research team leader role at the University Of Warwick working with Jaguar Land Rover. Parmjit has delivered innovative training seminars to researchers and their managers based within multinational corporations, SMEs, and academe in the UK and Asia.

Parmjit’s interests include the development of research leaders, doctoral supervision, the well-being of researchers, and academic entrepreneurship within higher education.
