Biography
Laura Poole-Warren is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Training) & Dean of Graduate Research at UNSW Australia. In these roles she has responsibility for graduate research education, researcher development and early career and postgraduate researchers. She is also a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and leads a research group in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering. Laura also spent 2 years as a preclinical scientist in the biomedical industry from 1999 to 2001 working on development of implantable devices including wound dressings and embolic agents for cancer treatment. Laura is current Convenor of the Australian Council for Deans and Directors of Graduate Research, is Vice-Chair of the International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering Women in BME Committee and is immediate past Chair of the Go8 Deans of Graduate Research. Her other roles include being an Associate Editor of the journal Biomaterials and an advisory board member of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Systems Science and the Bionic Vision Australia Consortium.
