Rachel Hare
Biography
Rachel is a University of Bristol PhD student, funded by the SWW DTP. Her research examines the representation of fainting in plays and other literary and cultural texts written from 1580 to 1640. Exploring the ways bodily and emotional vulnerability is understood differently in men and women, it argues that swoons reveal the instability of gender expectations in the period.
Rachel also works as a researcher on public engagement projects related to grief and has contributed to several academic and creative outputs that aim to support bereaved people. She is a qualified Diversity Ambassador, who is passionate about increasing accessibility.
