Biography
Rebecca Endean is Director of Strategy at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UK Research and Innovation will play a fundamental role in ensuring the UK is able to meet the unprecedented societal and industrial challenges that we face both locally and internationally. Rebecca and her team support the Board in developing the overall strategy for UKRI, ensuring it achieves its mission to ensure that world-leading research and innovation continues to grow and flourish in the UK.
Prior to this Rebecca was the Director responsible for the passage of the Higher Education Research Act through parliament and the organisation design and transition programme to establish UKRI. She has worked in a number of government departments in policy and analytical roles and was the Director of Analytical Services and Chief Scientific Adviser for the Ministry of Justice. She has championed the need for research to have an impact in developing evidence-based policy and is promoting better use of “big data” in research.
