Job Title
Head of Researcher Development and Culture
Biography
I am responsible for implementing a programme of activities at the University of Liverpool, where every researcher can access high quality development opportunities. I manage partnership working in relation to pan-institutional researcher development initiatives, such as Making an Impact. These ongoing interventions are aimed at cascading effective practice and developing the capabilities of all research staff to meet the University’s strategic focus on excellence via Strategy 2026.
I oversee the University's activities in relation to the European HR Excellence in Research Award. To support these activities, I convene the Concordat Steering Group, liaising with stakeholders regarding Liverpool's Early Career Researcher (ECR) development commitment that is delivered through the biennial Concordat Implementation Plan.
I have led The Academy’s establishment of the University’s Research Staff Association (UoL RSA) in partnership with the UKRSA. I sit on the UoL RSA steering committee and the UKRSA national committee. I am also actively engaged with external partners to facilitate the wider context of researcher development provision and communities of practice, such as Vitae and the N8 Research Partnership Post-Doctoral Network.
On a global platform, I convene the Emerging Researchers Group for the European Educational Research Association (EERA) and am a member of the EERA Council. I manage a programme of ECR developmental activities, including the EERA Emerging Researchers Conference, held annually in a different European city. I am also an Editorial Board member and a reviewer for a number of international educational journals.
