Biography                                                                                    

Ray Kent

Ray is interested in understanding and navigating the landscape of science policy in the UK and internationally. He has 30 years’ experience as a researcher, researcher developer and senior research manager. During this time, Ray has contributed to researcher development activities at Coventry, Loughborough and De Montfort universities and, most recently, The Royal Veterinary College. Alongside the day-job of managing a busy Research Office, he has written articles on researcher careers for ‘Science’; contributed to CRAC/Vitae publications on postdoctoral career destinations; drafted HR Excellence in Research and Athena SWAN documentation; acted as editor of, and a contributor to ARMA publications on researcher career development (2005, 2008); and served on Vitae’s Researcher Developer Advisory Group (2012 to 2015).
