HR Excellence in Research Award: exploring strategies for evaluation, evidence and future directions
A Vitae event
London South Bank University, Friday 23 January 2015
Underpinned by the European Charter and Code for Researchers, the European HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) Initiative aims to improve working conditions and career development for researchers across Europe and is a key part of the implementation of the European Research Area. The funding and audit criteria in Horizon 2020 reference the European Charter and Code for Researchers more strongly than in previous funding calls
The European Commission is currently reviewing the longer term strategy for the HR Excellence in Research Award, having commissioned last year a scoping study into a formal accreditation process for HR management of researchers. This event will be an opportunity for organisations to explore and input to the consultation process, in line with other events that have taken place at European level.
UK organisations gain the HR Excellence in Research Award via a UK process led and managed by Vitae. The first UK organisations to go through the external review process did so during the Autumn 2014. This event will be an opportunity to share practice related to the HR Excellence in Research evaluation process, including emerging themes from the first cohort of organisations and reviewers to take part in the external review process.
Participants will gain:
- An update on current strategy developments at European level, including from the expert group considering the future strategy for the HR Excellence in Research Award and on wider developments such as the pan-European pension scheme
- A chance to input to the consultation process for the development of a European strategy for the HRS4R to 2020
- An opportunity to share practice and experiences related to the evaluation of the Award, including case studies from institutions having been through the internal and external review processes
