Practice sharing in CPD for supervisors: East of England member seminar 2018

Vitae is pleased to invite member HEIs to the East of England member networking seminar, co-hosted by Anglia Ruskin University. This one-day event is part of a series of networking seminars open to member organisations. The free seminars, hosted by our Vitae regional representatives and member organisations, aim to facilitate networking and practice-sharing among the staff based at Vitae member organisations.

Theme: Practice sharing in CPD for supervisors

The aim is to share and discuss practice around engaging supervisors in their own professional development, including in their role as managers of researchers. Anglia Ruskin University is currently developing a suite of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for our supervisors. We will share this within the session and have one of our current supervisors providing an overview of what is covered within their session.

As key influencers of the doctoral researcher experience, it is important that supervisors are equipped to manage the many challenges that supervising doctoral research can bring. We therefore welcome attendees from across the region to contribute to the discussion and share their own examples of practice in this priority area.

Full programme and speaker details to follow.

Vitae update and networking

Other benefits of attending this event include the opportunity to meet and network with colleagues from across the region to discuss interests and priorities. Members of the Vitae team will be available to share updates on recent Vitae activities and to gather regional feedback to inform the Vitae membership programme for 2018/19. Please come along to meet us, share your thoughts and ask any questions.

Who should attend?

We particularly welcome the Vitae membership key contacts and other individuals able to speak on behalf of their institution. However, membership is for everyone within the institution and we encourage everyone with an interest in developing researchers to attend, including PVCs, Heads of graduate schools, Researcher Developers, Research Offices, HR and Careers professionals, Directors of CDTs, E&D champions, and researchers.

Seminars are open to all those based at Vitae member organisations and are free to attend. You can attend whichever and as many meetings as you like whether they're in your host region or not however priority will be giving to staff from the host region.
