Helen Kara: Many researchers now are doing this - it’s generally called ‘mixed methods’ research. In the right context, it’s more helpful than unhelpful. There are a couple of journals on the subject, have a look on Google Scholar, and some books: Creswell, Plano Clark, Tashakkori + Teddlie are authors to check out.
