Researcher Futures. Establishing yourself: Productivity and People
BOOKINGS FOR THIS EVENT ARE NOW CLOSED.
This is a regional pilot event for the East of England Hub and will be hosted by the University of Hertfordshire. Places are free but booking is essential in order to be considered for a place. This is an application process and places are not automatically guaranteed. The application process will close at the end of June after which time we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if your application has been successful.
Researchers attending the event must be based at an institution located in the East of England. The course will cover the theme of being more productive and working more effectively with others through inclusion of specific training on:
- Research Management: including time and task prioritisation skills.
- Working with others: taking in information and communicating arguments effectively and cultural understanding.
- Taking the next steps to become a professional effective researcher.
This programme is aimed at research staff who are in their first or second research contract post PhD or equivalent and who aspire to become PIs or project team leaders. The course will provide guidance and advice about how research staff can pursue these roles. Those individuals whose career aspirations do not involve progressing ‘up' the research ladder (e.g. stay in their current role, or take their skills outside of the research environment) will also benefit from this training, which will highlight that skills are transferable readily to other environments. This course is not suitable for PhD research students.
Observers
The Vitae EE Hub invites staff involved in researcher development at regional institutions to attend as observers for the day. The opportunity to observe will provide you with direct experience of the workshop in preparation for delivering it to research staff at your institution if you choose to do so.
