Background
The ‘Vitae Connections’ series of events is designed to provide insights, tools and tactics to be more effective in a researcher development role and to support the continuing professional development of staff supporting researchers. This ‘Leadership in researcher development’ event will bring together around 30 participants who aspire to leadership within a researcher development context, for a one-day programme of learning and practice sharing.
Content proposals
We invite abstracts for presentations in either of two panel sessions
- Leadership in practice - Researcher developers as leaders: Case studies of developing or demonstrating leadership as a researcher developer, including through the HR Excellence in Research Award
- Growing future leadership - Developing researchers to be leaders: Case studies of researcher development provision for leadership, including examples of institutional leadership programmes for researchers and innovative ideas for the future
Presentations will be 15 minutes, followed by questions to the panel and discussion. Abstracts must be no more than 250 words, excluding the title. Abstracts must be submitted via the form on the Vitae website.
Abstracts should refer to
- The context, challenge, or question to be addressed
- How the presentation will contribute to the professional development of the participants, such as the specific knowledge or skills developed, or the practical resources available
- The relevance for researcher developers and other staff supporting researchers, such as through the connection with the Career Framework for Researcher Developers (CFRD)
Proposals of a commercial nature (i.e., promoting or marketing products and services) will not be considered. Please contact Sarah Nalden (events@vitae.ac.uk) for promotion and sponsorship opportunities.
The deadline for submitting an abstract is Monday 8 February 2016 at 5pm GMT.
Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel based on the criteria below. We will let you know whether your proposal has been successful by Monday 29 February 2016.
