Leveraging the Value of Your Research Staff Association
Although research staff associations (RSAs) continue to be established at institutions throughout the U.K., it still remains to be seen whether the value of RSAs are fully recognized and utilized. To this end, a discussion among leaders and supporters of RSAs to discuss ways in which to leverage the unique benefits of RSAs is warranted and timely. In this workshop, we will work in small groups to understand how RSAs can benefit research staff, a department and an institution. Furthermore, we will discuss how RSAs can be effective at the national and international policy levels using examples from the United States National Postdoctoral Association and the International Consortium of Research Staff Associations. After discussion, we will summarize the results from various groups and feed this information back to the UKRSA steering committee and Vitae for further dissemination.
