This year our annual Vitae conference will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The hotel is situated next to the NEC, Genting Arena, Birmingham International Train Station and Birmingham Airport.

Travel
Traveling by car
From Birmingham International Airport, bear right onto Concorde Road, turn right onto Vanguard Road and then bear left onto Airport Way. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit then merge onto Coventry Road A45 (sign posted M42, M6, M1, M40, M5, Coventry). Branch left (sign posted M42, M6, M1, M40, M5, NEC), then at the roundabout take the first exit onto Pendigo Way (sign posted NEC). At the roundabout take the first exit into the car park of the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Traveling by train
From Birmingham New Street Station, take the train to Birmingham International Station. The journey normally takes around 10-15 minutes depending on the time of day. The hotel’s courtesy bus can then collect you from the Birmingham International Station by contacting the hotel on the courtesy telephone (adjacent to subway). The journey from Birmingham International Station to Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel takes 5 minutes by bus. The 24-hour service runs every 30 minutes between 06:00 and 23:00.

The direct courtesy hotel bus service runs between the hours of 06.00 and 23.00. All hotel guests travelling from Birmingham Airport during these hours should take the mono rail to Birmingham International rail station, where you should use the free telephone (signposted with the Hilton logo adjacent to subway), the shuttle bus will be able to then collect passengers.
All guests travelling to Birmingham Airport outside these hours should contact the hotel on 0121 780 6265. The bus stop is at Bus Stop C and located at outside the main arrival and departure terminal.
Traveling by taxi
For a taxi from Birmingham Airport to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, it is a 2-mile drive and costs around £6.

Traveling by foot
It is advisable to take the Hilton hotel courtesy bus or a taxi but walking directions can be found below:
Once you have arrived at Birmingham International Rail Station, simply follow the directions inside the station to head toward the NEC. As you enter into the NEC, take an immediate right and head down the stairs/ramp towards the main exit. Once outside, cross the road and follow the signs towards the Hilton Metropole.
Parking
Parking is available at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole at a discounted rate of £6 per day. During check out, please notify the receptionist of your car registration and that you are attending the conference to receive the discount. The Hilton Birmingham Metropole has 600 parking spaces in total.
Accommodation
Hilton Birmingham Metropole
For the conference, we have a limited allocation of rooms for participants at the Hilton which you can book via Eventbrite by selecting a residential rate. Residential rates only include accommodation for Monday 11th September. You can book accommodation for Sunday 10th September as an additional. If you have already booked a non-residential rate and would now like accommodation, this can also be booked as an additional via Eventbrite.
