Workshop overview:
Academic language development for non-native English speakers is an important part of skills development for many international researchers. This session provides an overview of the support mechanisms put in place to facilitate language development at the University of Salford. The programme consists of online resources and a peer mentoring scheme.

- Peer mentoring for researchers
- Supporting academic literacy development
- Enhancing organisational capacity for innovative professional development
- Sharing ideas and development of online resources
- Sustaining training and development
Themes covered:
- Leadership development of early career researchers
- Researcher development across boundaries including international collaborations, inter-cultural competences, international researchers experiences, business/industry collaborations and engaging society through open research
- Innovative uses of the Vitae Researcher Development Framework
Workshop outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, participants should:
- Participate in an active discussion
- An opportunity to 'try' the mentoring techniques
- Begin to formulate a model that can be adopted in own institution
