Workshop overview:
The workshop will use two L&D initiatives for research staff and explore how their impact was measured. The session will discuss impact and how researcher developers can show return on investment, in light of the challenges on delivering more and having less resources.
As researcher developers, there's no shortage of ideas, with little measurement of effectiveness of the L&D initiatives. There is little shared experience and knowledge on how to evidence impact.
This workshop will share practice for researcher developers looking at measuring the impact of L&D initiatives for researchers.
Two impact reports for different L&D initiatives at the University of Warwick will be used to showcase:
- Research Staff Network funding 5 year impact report
- Leadership Programmes impact report
Building capability at the University of Warwick and showing the impact of L&D initiatives, with increasing demand to support researcher development and meet diverse learning and development needs.

- Impact and evidence of L&D initiatives for researchers
- Examples & ideas for evidencing impact
- Case study: University of Warwick with examples of evaluating programmes and showing impact in L&D researcher provision
Workshop outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, participants should:
- An improved understanding of measuring impact
- An understanding of evidence–based impact reports
