Abstract

The current Catalan research career strategy is to widen career perspectives to meet the current and future knowledge-based economy opportunities, opening career paths particularly promoting linkages to policy-makers, industry, education and society.

It fosters to boost researchers career from a three-dimensional perspective, leadership, independence and consolidation, in an excellence environment, strengthening ties with the innovation ecosystem through its postdoctoral programme Beatriu de Pinós.

The programme offers researchers an open approach of career development in one of the most vibrant European environments in the Mediterranea. A Career development plan embraces multi/interdisciplinary, intersectorality and international collaboration, focused on strengthening researcher's career and employability. Additional training in transferable skills is promoted towards becoming more independent, innovative and entrepreneurial, including industry and non-profit short visits; cross-sectoral supervision; training activities and access to international funding.

Secondments are offered in all sectors and especially promoted in public sector entities from different fields, allowing researchers to act as key actors of the 'Quadruple Helix', as a linkage to the regional ecosystem innovation-generating processes, accelerating the transfer of research and innovation results.
