Workshop overview: 

The READ (researcher enhancement and development) programme is a 60 credit, three module programme that covers the 3 years full time or 6 year part time doctoral journey. Based on 6 doctoral study weeks, the programme offers candidates the opportunity to hone their transferable skills and provides them with an additional qualification (doctoral certificate in READ). READ runs alongside the PhD/Prof Doc  as a means of providing academic credit for work that supports the doctoral journey. Participants are able to demonstrate that they are working at doctoral level (SCQF level 12).

Themes covered: 

  • Innovations in doctoral training programmes; new modes of delivery; delivering at scale, doctoral training centres/ partnerships, Innovative Training Networks (ITNs) and other cohort-based models

Workshop outcomes: 

This workshop provides participants with an understanding of how credit rating doctoral provision can provide structure and support to doctoral candidates to aid completion rates, transferable skills and employability.
