Workshop overview:
By 2020, the Fourth Industrial Revolution will have brought us advanced robotics and autonomous transport, artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced materials, biotechnology and genomics.
These developments will transform the way we live, and the way we work. Some jobs will disappear, others will emerge and industries will evolve. What is certain is that the future researcher will need to align their skill set to keep pace in an ever-changing environment.
Themes covered:
- Trends in the wider research, employment, and policy environments and how these might affect researcher development strategy
- Strategic opportunities and challenges for organisations in creating and sustaining environments where researchers can flourish
Workshop aims:
- Future proofing/forward looking
- Enabling participants to consider industry engagement methodologies for researchers
Value for delegates:
In the course of the workshop, participants will get an opportunity to think about researchers in the context of industrial strategy, UKRI priorities and societal change/expectations.
They will leave the workshop with actionable insights that will enhance their own training delivery and development. We will also introduce two open source tools that attendees will be able to use beyond the workshop.
