Workshop overview:
This session explores what, how and why there is a rise in the number of recognition schemes, programmes and frameworks available to those working in Higher Education. The panel and delegates are invited to collectively explore and debate to what extent these recognition processes are contributing to the professionalisation of academic, research and researcher development practice.
Themes covered:
- Trends in the wider research, employment, and policy environments and how these might affect researcher development strategy
- Exploring the career development needs of researcher developers within the context of a new and evolving profession
Workshop aims:
- Differentiation between existing recognition schemes for individual (and institutional) stakeholders
- Contribution to the start of a sector discussion about the value of recognition for various stakeholder groups: Doctoral students; postdocs and early career researchers; researchers who teach; research supervisors; researcher developers
Value for delegates:
Recommendations to the groups represented and wider HE community about the value of recognition frameworks
