Call for content

Call for Content is now closed

The deadline for submissions to Vitae Connections Week 2020 has been extended to 17 July 2020. If you have already submitted a proposal for the postponed Vitae Researcher Development International Conference, we will be in touch.

The call for content is open and we invite you to share your examples of practice, strategic approaches, evidence of impact, and emerging ideas in researcher development. Your submission should support the #VitaeCon2020 aims by, for example:

  • Sharing challenges and facilitating collective problem-solving
  • Showcasing successes and enabling participants to build on them
  • Providing a structure that encourages conversations and new connections
  • Demonstrating the relevance and impact of researcher development
  • Being accessible and interesting to a broad audience

We would like to encourage you to be creative with your submission, which can be intended for 'live' delivery and participation (e.g. an interactive webinar) or 'pre-prepared' delivery and participation (e.g. a video or slides uploaded in advance). Further information on these two content format options is given below.

Live content formats

Content submissions intended for live delivery and synchronous participation could include, for example, interactive webinars, live-streamed panel presentations with Q&A, facilitated roundtable discussions, and Twitter chats. Contributors may be able to use their own virtual platform to deliver the session or request their session to be hosted by the #VitaeCon2020 team. Contributors will be given a time slot for their session, which will start no earlier than 09.00 BST and end no later than 17.00 BST during 14-17 September. Time times are shown on the draft programme [to be added shortly]. Note that further sessions may be added, depending on the number of content submissions and participant registrations.

Live content submissions will be peer-reviewed by an external panel, and two presenters per successful submission will be eligible for full complementary access to #VitaeCon2020.

Pre-prepared content formats

Content submission intended for 'pre-prepared' delivery and asynchronous engagement could include, for example, PDF posters, powerpoint slide decks, videos, podcasts, and written articles. Contributors should prepare or record their content and provide to the #VitaeCon2020 team in advance for it to be  published on the #VitaeCon2020 website for browsing during the week. Full guidelines and deadlines for uploading content will be provided.

Content should be brief (e.g. 3-5 slides, a 5-minute video or podcast, or a 1-page article or poster) and intended to stimulate further discussion. #VitaeCon2020 participants will be able to contact you through the networking app. You may also like to include links to follow up content and your social media contact information. You will also be invited to join a virtual poster session during the conference (if you wish) where you can interact with other participants and presenters.

Pre-prepared content submissions will be peer-reviewed by the #VitaeCon2020 team, and two presenters per successful submission will be eligible for full complementary access to #VitaeCon2020.

Critical dates

The deadline for all proposals is Friday 17 July 2020 at 17:00 (UK). We will let you know whether your proposal has been successful later in July..

If successful, the information you have provided will be published for participants.
