A decade of fostering attractive research careers
On 3 March 2015, the European Commission hosted a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the "European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers".
At the event over two hundred Deans and Rectors from universities and research institutes to have implemented the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers have received the ‘HR Excellence in Research Award’ for their efforts to create attractive working conditions for researchers in Europe. This includes 93 UK universities.
Janet Metcalfe, Chair of Vitae, who presented at the event, highlighted that:
"The HR Strategy for Researchers is the world’s largest talent management programme and that it is good to see the progress that has been made in the ten years since the launch of the Charter and Code at the UK Presidency event."
A UK-specific process for obtaining the HR Excellence in Research Award that ensures synergy with current UK mechanisms is managed by Vitae and is available to the Vitae member organisations.
