The benefits to UK institutions of the HR Excellence in Research Award

Vitae has just published the results of a survey of UK organisations with the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research Award. Over 80% of institutions surveyed said the Award process has contributed to achieving strategic goals and provided an impetus for change.

18 institutions, including 9 from the Russell/1994 Group responded to the survey, which highlighted six major themes:

  • Contribution to strategic goals (84%)
  • Impetus for change (90%)
  • Supporting internal processes (84%)
  • Raising the status of researcher development (63%)
  • Meeting researchers' needs (74%)
  • Attracting funding (37%)
