Two more UK universities gain the HR Excellence in Research Award
The latest two UK universities to achieve the Award by setting out their HR strategies for researchers are London South Bank University and the University of Essex.
The Award demonstrates a university's commitment to improving the working conditions and career development for research staff, which will in turn improve the quantity, quality and impact of research for the benefit of UK society and the economy.
Ninety one UK organisations now have the Award which also commits them to a programme of internal and external evaluation.
This increases the UK total to 91, joining 94 organisations in the rest of Europe with the Award.
Guy Gregory, University of Bristol and UK panel member says:
“On behalf of the UK panel which reviews the submissions for the HR Excellence in Research Award, our congratulations to the latest institutions to be recognised by the European Commission for their work to support researcher careers. The HR Excellence in Research initiative requires institutions to set out their plans and monitor progress in implementing the principles of the Concordat to Support Career Development for Researchers. As we continue to invest in a strong research sector, it’s vital that we continue to support researchers to fulfil their potential”.
