Vitae has developed a Getting started in research lens on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF)
The Getting started in research lens on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework is for those in the first few months of their doctoral research.
The Vitae Researcher Development Framework offers a comprehensive view of a successful researcher. It can be used to review development needs and progress for all researchers as they move forward in their careers.
The purpose of a lens on the Researcher Development Framework is to focus on the key knowledge, behaviours and attributes developed by researchers, and can be used for, or acquired through, particular contexts, such as teaching, enterprise or public engagement. This lens focuses on the knowledge, behaviours and attributes required to start out in research and to begin developing as a researcher.
‘This part of doctoral study is so important, because it is about selling your ideas and convincing people that there is a gap for your research’
Max Robinson (electronics/3D imaging)
Other lenses currently available are leadership, teaching, enterprise, public engagement, information literacy, enterprise, employability, engineering intrapreneurship. Additional lenses in development include knowledge exchange and mobility.
All of the published lenses, including 'Getting started' lens have also been incorporated into the RDF Planner.
