York is the winner of this year's award for Outstanding Support for Early Career Researchers

The winner of this year's Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Support for Early Career Researchers, supported by Vitae and presented by Janet Metcalfe, Chair and Head, Vitae, at this year's dinner on 29 November is the University of York for its new Research Leaders programme .

Facilitated by Professor Brian Fulton, Academic Co-ordinator for Science, Dr Karen Clegg, Director of Researcher Development Team, and Susan Kane, Leadership and Management Development Advisor, the programme focuses on some of the key leadership challenges in the context of a research environment.

The Edinburgh Beltane Public Engagement Fellowship Scheme was also highly commended by the judges.

The four other higher education institutions shortlisted for the category were:

  • Imperial College London
  • King's College London
  • University College London
  • University of Strathclyde

This award is given to the individual, team or institution that has developed the most innovative or exemplary scheme to enhance and develop the transferable and careers skills of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers.
