Vitae News: Research integrity study, new IPO programme and RRI survey - October 2019

Would you like to contribute to a research study of research integrity in the UK?

Research England, on behalf of UKRI, have commissioned Vitae in partnership with the UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) to conduct a study exploring what motivates researchers to maintain high standards of research integrity.

The study aims to understand pressures, incentives, disciplinary norms, and personal motivations that may affect the way research is carried out. Researchers at all career stages, including doctoral candidates from all disciplines, based in the UK, are invited to participate in a large-scale survey.

Please forward the survey to your networks. Closing date, Wednesday 6 November.

Vitae and Intellectual Property Office (IPO) partnering for second year to deliver ‘IP for Research’ programme

This programme has been developed to increase the Intellectual Property (IP) knowledge and skills of doctoral and early career researchers to ensure they understand the role IP plays in achieving their research goals.

We are recruiting 10 institutions across the UK to host half-day workshops in which participants will learn about the importance of IP in research, as well as key elements of IP such as:
  • IP Rights – copyright, patents, design and trade marks
  • Commercialisation of IP within research projects
  • Role of the Knowledge Exchange/Technology Transfer office and its support of research projects
The deadline for expressions of interest to host a workshop is 09:00am on 11 November 2019. Do pass this call on to your institution’s Knowledge Exchange/Technology Transfer Office and/or Researcher Development team as appropriate.
