The Honours system recognises the achievements of a wide range of people across the United Kingdom and Dr Metcalfe, Head of Vitae, CRAC’s programme in higher education, has received the award for her extraordinary contribution to higher education. Janet, working with CRAC, and through her contribution nationally and internationally has influenced researcher development practice and policy globally.
Indi Seehra, Chairman of the CRAC Board of Trustees paying tribute said “Janet has championed the career and professional development of researchers in higher education for almost 30 years, directly and indirectly influencing the development and careers of hundreds of thousands of researchers during that time.”
“It is an extraordinary honour to be recognised by HM The Queen in this way. I feel it is also recognition for all my colleagues, friends and family who have supported me in my career and contributed to achieving so much for the career development of researchers” said Janet.
Dr David Sweeney, Executive Chair, Research England commented “Dr Metcalfe’s contribution has been critical and central, pioneering the agenda since the 1990’s.
