Event updates

EURAXESS public engagement, science communication and researcher mobility webinar

For researchers who didn’t get the chance to join the EURAXESS webinar that took place last week, the British Council (who manage EURAXESS in the UK) have kindly shared the recording of the event for Vitae subscribers. The webinar considered international and personal perspectives and experiences around researchers undertaking public engagement activities.

We were delighted that Yasna Najmi - People’s Choice Winner of the Vitae Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition 2022 - was able to join the panel and speak about her journey to winning the People’s Choice crown. Watch the recording to learn about the benefits of sharing your research with the public and to get supporting tips and resources.

If you enjoyed this, you might wish to subscribe to the EURAXESS newsletter.

This month’s featured YouTube playlist

Our second playlist created from the rich content of the Vitae International Researcher Development Conference 2022 - #VitaeCon2022 - is centred on the conference theme of ‘Cultures, environments, and impacts of researcher development’.

#VitaeCon2022 content is aimed at the broad range of professionals who support the development of researchers, but is also applicable to researchers themselves.

New funding call: UKRI Healthy Ageing Catalyst Awards with professional development support programme

UKRI have made £1.25m available to fund a fourth round of the Healthy Ageing Catalyst Awards, around translating research beyond academia and improving aspects of older adults’ lives such as housing, communities, finances or health.

Winners receive £62,500 from UKRI and the opportunity for a 9-month enterprise/professional development support programme from Zinc. Could this be a potential project for you or your institution?  Workshops are being run to find out how to prepare a strong application.

Updating researcher network listings

To support the UK Research Staff Association (UKRSA) in refreshing its membership, we kindly ask you to provide contact details for local research staff networks by completing this quick questionnaire (~1 minute to complete).

The UKRSA serves as an important national network for connecting and representing research staff. It delivers on various projects and commitments including sharing practice, such as through its place on the Steering Group for the National Postdoc Conference 2023, and in supporting high-level policy (such as through representation on the Researcher Development Concordat Steering Group).

Career opportunities

The Careers Research and Advisory Centre (CRAC) Limited which manages the Vitae programme, is recruiting for several positions to contribute to our mission of supporting the development of researchers. We invite you to apply and please feel free to share the link amongst your networks to those who may be interested.

Wishing you the best for the festive season and a fruitful and engaging 2023.
