With under a month to go now until #VitaeCon2022 we are preparing to welcome participants from around the globe. Unsurprisingly, most of the news this month focuses on the Vitae International Researcher Development Conference - #VitaeCon2022. 

Vitae International Researcher Development Conference

With only a handful of combined tickets now remaining due to the increased demand this year, if you have not yet booked your tickets for the Vitae International Researcher Developer Conference, we advise that you book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We warmly welcome all those who have joined us before, and those considering joining us for the first time, for what will be a thought provoking and inspiring community event!  

Note that we are operating a waiting list for the ‘in person only’ tickets as they have now sold out.

We are delighted to announce the latest speakers for the plenary sessions of #VitaeCon2022: 

Wednesday 14 September 

  • Professor Manuel Heitor, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, and Director of the Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research - plenary three: Horizon scanning in researcher development, 09:30 - 10:30 GMT +1.  
  • Professor Farzana Shain, Head of Educational Studies, Goldsmiths University - plenary four: Supporting researchers into, through and beyond the PhD, 13:45 - 14:45 GMT+1. 

Thursday 15 September 

  • Jo O'Leary, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, UKRI and 
  • Olya Vvedenskaya, Dragonfly Mental Health - plenary five: Cultures, environments, and impacts of researcher development, 13:45 - 14:45 GMT+1

#VitaeCon2022 exhibition

Vitae Three Minute Thesis® competition

Now that the six 3MT® finalists have been selected from the 12 semi-finalists,  

Preparations are gathering momentum for the 3MT® final which will be broadcast on Thursday 15 September 2022 at 12:00 GMT +1. Watch the final on the 3MT® platform and find out the Judges Choice Winner and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award.  

If you have already registered for #VitaeCon2022 you will automatically be registered to the separate 3MT® platform and your registration details will be emailed from ‘', so look out for these details.  

If you are not attending #VitaeCon2022, or you are a researcher, you can register for free on the competition platform. Please share the link globally with your networks and encourage them to tune in to what is set to be another inspiring final.

Dr. Nicola Palmer, Head of Doctoral Training, Doctoral School, Sheffield Hallam University has written a blog ‘Contesting boundaries: researcher networks as inclusive and exclusive spaces’ about her reflections on networks as ‘spaces of inclusion and exclusion’, preceding the launch of the ‘Toolbox for Developing and Sustaining Effective Researcher Networks’ next month.
