Upcoming Vitae member events
Ten is Zen: Counting 10 days of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The last few places are available to Vitae members for our member event ‘Ten is Zen: Counting 10 days of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)’, taking place tomorrow 27 May.
Join us to explore what constitutes a ‘credible’ CPD activity, how CPD can be maximised for the benefit of researchers and their careers, and how we can create a culture of ownership where researchers take responsibility for planning their time spent undertaking CPD.
Wellbeing Working Group event to explore what influences supervision
Bookings are now open for our latest Wellbeing Member Working Group event taking place on 22 June 14.30-15.30 GMT+1 for Vitae members. The event considers factors that influence how supervisors of doctoral candidates conduct their supervision. We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with jobs.ac.uk to host a webinar entitled ‘Presentation Skills for Researchers’ on 22 June 2022. The event is aimed at Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to help them improve both face-to face presentation skills as well as tips for online delivery. Dr. Mhairi Towler, Founder and CEO of animation production company Vivomotion, will be sharing her experience around a variety of relevant topic areas, including constructing a narrative, building confidence and attending job interviews.
Recruitment opportunities
We are seeking a new of Head of Engagement and Policy, to drive Vitae’s membership programme, community development, communications and events, as well as a Researcher Development Manager to join our Learning and Development team, providing excellent services in researcher development to our global clients.
The Trustees of the Careers Research & Advisory Centre (CRAC), who manage the Vitae programme, have recently agreed substantial investment in the future direction of the charity and with a global focus on people and culture, so it is an exciting time to join us.
In preparation for her farewell, Dr Katie Wheat, current Head of Engagement & Policy, has written a blog about her career journey at CRAC/Vitae and the interesting opportunities she has encountered along the way.
